Let's talk skirts

I'm obsessed with skirts lately. Probably because the shape of my lower half makes buying pants a nightmare! I'm small waisted and fuller in the thigh area. Finding pants that fit both areas is quite impossible and I never go out and buy pants that I think would be worth the extra $ to take to a tailor.

So skirts are easy for me. Here's several @ Anthropologie that I'm drooling over right now:

The Alena Skirt, $88, style #18112011 - so light and airy, perfect for Spring and Summer

Scalloped Sailor Skirt, $88, style #023104 - cuteness to the max. I love the detailing around the buttons

Air Mail Skirt, $98, style #013193 - So whimsical, just what I'd expect from Anthro. John would probably love this skirt too, given it's theme.

I'll be back soon with a few more skirts. It seems like every day the website gets more new arrivals!

Craft Closet

I finally got my act together and turned one of our spare closets into a craft heaven. I have so many art supplies it's insane, and until very recently they were spread around the house.

Here's some photos of the closet progress. My pegboard door installed by me:

A close up of the fabric bags (thanks Anthro!) that I'm using to house my paint brushes:

The shelves (no photo yet) are stocked full of assorted junk and fleece-galore! I plan on making a sewing table that has wheels on it so that I can pull it out and tuck it away as needed. It sure will beat sewing on the coffee table in the living room!

I made this little fellow for a friend of mine. The resemblence is uncanny.

A little obsessed?

Why yes. I surely am. I tend to go through fazes of being obsessed with certain things. Could be a type of food or drink, but mostly it's a store. And recently it's become one fabulous store in particular...Anthropologie!

Over the past year I have lost approximately 30 pounds by drastically changing my eating habits and using my elliptical machine at least 5-6 days a week (sometimes 7!). I've gone from squeezing myself into a size 10 all the way down to a size 4! Go me right? Reaching the double digits was really hard on me mentally. I had always been on the thin side, and when I was at the point of a size 10 being tight I knew I needed to change things.

So with this new body I also needed new clothes. I've had to replace everything, which was more than okay with me since my old style sense was drab and boring. I think I had pretty much given up on caring what I looked like. I barely even bothered to put makeup on for work!

My love affair with Anthropologie began several years ago when I happened to come across 3 amazing cardigans online on super sale. I wore those cardi's until they looked very well worn. I even cried a little when my husband mistakenly put my favorite one of them in the dryer (the horror!) and it shrunk. Supposedly He thought it was one of his shirts...which is actually sort of funny since the cardi was purple w/ribbon details on the front!

In August I fell back in love with the store. To the point where I stalk items to find them on sale. It's sort of embarrassing that I wake up early every Tuesday morning to go on their website to see what has hit the sales rack...and yes they normally update sales on Tuesday mornings and if you don't check out the site early things sell out really quickly. I guess there's a lot of other crazy Anthropologie addicts that wake up early, eyes still blurry, coffee in hand.

I've dropped some serious dough at this store. Nothing I would consider excessive. I only buy items on sale, but the shiz is still pretty pricey.

What is it about clothes that make women so crazy? Why am I so obsessed with buying pretty things? My husband couldn't care less if shirts were stained or his jeans have holes in them (which they do!).

I'll finish up this post by adding that while typing this I was checking out the Anthro website and saw a super cute skirt on sale for $39. I clicked, I bought!

Lucy Wear

Husband and I recently adopted a dog. She's a mystery mutt and She rules. Due to the new addition I've been obsessed with making doggie jackets.

Here's some jackets that I've made thus far:

Her pimped out ghetto look. I so wish I had some gold bling bling chains for the photo op!

Her very Vera Bradley coat (eww VB! WTF was I thinking!)

& the first one I made was her owl cape. It needs a little adjusting

& now for a hood shot. This was prior to the cape being finished (ignore the husbands horrible pj pants pls)

OMG She is so stinking cute!

Welcome cruel world

So, I hate writing. I'm no good at it. English was definitely not my favorite subject in school. Nor was math, which makes perfect sense since I'm working as an accounting assistant now. Thank MSJ for calculators! (I'll get to who/what MSJ is later)

Bare with me. I'll try not to ramble, if you try not to fall asleep.

I'm a visual person, so expect lots of pictures to be posted in the near future. For now, here's a list of things that I will most likely be blogging about.

#1 Shopping
#2 Sewing
#3 Painting
#4 Fashion
#5 Pets

Hm...I just re-read this post and it looks like I am rambling. Too bad.

That's all for now. I'm trying to watch Launch My Line, which is sort of like the poor mans version of Project Runway. I do love myself some Dsquared2 tho. I luv the gays, and these fools are twice as nice!
